Obituary for Lorne David Perry
Notice: PERRY, Lorne David – It is with broken hearts that the family of Lorne Perry announces his unexpected passing at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Thursday, April 5, 2018 in his 71st year. Beloved husband of Julie (nee Michalovic) for 45 years. Cherished father of Meredith Hicks (Blake) and Bettina Perry (Erin). Proud grandfather of Blake Lorne Hicks. Dear brother of Lenora Thoms (Alan), Wilma Farley (late Peter) and Phillip Perry (Sharon). Lorne will be sadly missed by his loving companion, his dog Quinn. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Lorne and Marilyn.
Lorne was a reservist with the Lincoln and Welland Regiments and a Paramedic with Welland and St. Catharines Ambulance for many years. In retirement he owned his own welding business and drove school bus for Babcock Bus Lines for 30 years, a position he thoroughly enjoyed. He loved the students that he picked up every day and they loved him back. He loved all aspects of the outdoors from hiking to hunting and fishing and capturing its beauty through photography. Lorne was an avid reader, life long learner, and loved sharing his diverse interests with those around him. He was admired for his quick wit, his dry sense of humor, his passion for learning, his wealth of obscure knowledge, and most of all his kind heart. He will be sadly missed by the countless lives he has touched.
The family invites friends to join them in celebrating Lorne’s life at the H.L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland on Sunday, April 8th. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. followed by a service in the Cudney Chapel at 3 p.m.
