Obituary for Joan Evelyne Elliott (Grinstead)
ELLIOTT, Joan (Erion) - Passed from this life on Thursday December 28, 2017 at the age of 92. Survived by daughter Jan, son Greg (Silvia), son Scott (Mary) and granddaughter Jessica. Predeceased by grandson Geoff Erion in 2000.
Joan was an RAF veteran, a warbride and a founding member of The Mountbatten Club. She began her working life in Canada with the Welland Library on the Bookmobile, moving on to highschool secretary at PDHS and ELCSS where she was a band mom for many years. She volunteered with countless organizations and particularly enjoyed handing out warm blankets at the hospital.
The family wish to thank The Stabler Centre of Hospice Niagara for making her last days comfortable and Plymouth Cordage staff for 10 years of exceptional care as well as her caregivers Tanya and Njeri. Also the Welland Medical Pharmacy, Dr. E. Sayed and Dr. L Vanderwalt for many years of health support. Thank you to Dr. Dooler and the palliative care team including the wonderful St. Elizabeth nurses for all their help this past year. A very special thank you to those in our lives who were there for us while we cared for our mum.
A celebration of Joan’s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #4, 383 Moringstar Avenue in Welland on Sunday, January 28th from 1 - 4 p.m. Light lunch at 2 p.m. and a blessing at 3 p.m. Welcome to all who remember Joan and a life well-lived. Joan was an avid watcher of TVO believing that one should ‘Never Stop Learning’ and she loved all animals so if you wish to remember her with a donation please consider TVO, The Welland and District Humane Society or a charity of your choice with cards available at the H.L.
