Obituary for Robert Roland "Bob" Stretton

STRETTON Robert “Bob” - Passed away peacefully, after a short illness, at Woodlands of Sunset Care Home on Saturday, October 21, 2017 in his 100th year. He was the devoted husband and best friend of his late wife Penelope “Ella” (2015). He will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews and their families in Canada and Scotland and by his many friends. He is predeceased by his brothers William, George and Rodney and his sister Caroline. Bob was born in Westbourne, Manitoba and for many years was a member of the RCMP. He then worked on the Trans Canada railway both in British Columbia and in Toronto. He was a keen bird fancier and for several years bred and showed hundreds of budgies and was president of the budgerigar society. He was also an avid horseman having owned and trained trotting horses. He and Ella lived in Toronto until the early 80’s when they moved to Port Colborne. They later moved to Welland where they lived at Seasons Retirement Home and finally Woodlands of Sunset. . A special thank you to the staff at Woodlands of Sunset who cared for and looked after Bob so well, also to Rick and Nancy Horne for their undivided love, care and support. Respecting Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a family service will take place in Scotland at a later date. Online condolences available at www.cudneyfuneralhome.com
