Obituary for Stella Fowler (Hore)

FOWLER, Stella – Stella passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, at the Welland Hospital on Friday, September 8, 2017 in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of the late David Fowler (2006). Cherished mother of Michael Fowler (Pat) and Tracey Fowler. Proud and loving grandmother of Rhonda and Todd Little, Jennifer and Sean Neamtu, Adam Horton and Julie-Ann Garand. Great-grandmother of Ian, Kyle, Layla and Greyson. Dear sister of Lorna Watchhorn. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Roy and Leona Hore, daughter Linda McDonald, grandson Aaron Horton and brother Mac Hore.

Stella worked in the cafeteria at the Welland Hospital for 25 years. She was a faithful member of Cooks Mills United Church where she served on the Board of Directors. She was devoted to her family, friends and also lending a hand to those in need. She played an active role with Community Christmas Toys and gave selflessly of her time to ensure that no child went without on Christmas morning. Stella was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #4 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing darts, cribbage, bingo and trying her luck at the casino from time to time. She will be sadly missed by the many lives she has touched.

The family will receive friends at the H.L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland on Tuesday, September 12th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the Cudney Chapel on Wednesday, September 13th at 11 a.m. Cremation will follow and a private family interment will take place at a later date. In

lieu of flowers, Stella’s wishes were that an unwrapped toy be brought to the funeral home to be given to Community Christmas Toys. This act of kindness, in memory of Stella, will help continue her legacy of good deeds, community involvement, generosity and kindness. Alternatively, donations to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #4 Poppy Fund would also be appreciated.
