ROSE, Dominic Joseph - Dominic passed away peacefully at Rapelje Lodge on Thursday, May 25, 2017 in his 96th year. Beloved husband of Jane (nee O’Bireck) having just celebrated 73 years of marriage on May 17th. Cherished father of Donald Rose (Jeanne Misener), the late David Rose (Suzanne), Monica Rose (William Thomas) and Tom Rose (Paula). Proud grandfather of Michael and Sophia. Dear brother of John Rose (Neitha) and brother-in-law of Betty Leon and Janey O’Bireck. Dominic will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Annie Rose and many dear family members. Dominic proudly served our Country with the Canadian Army during WWII on Coastal Duty stationed in Prince Rupert. He later worked for Canada Forge for 40 years, retiring as a Supervisor in 1982. Dominic lived out his passion for music playing the alto sax for many bands over 25 years, including the Al Fisher Orchestra. He enjoyed fishing and golf and was a member of the Welland Wellness Centre where he enjoyed a good game of cribbage. Dominic will always be remembered for his story telling, laughter, and the warm smiles he offered to anyone he met. He was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren. Above all, he loved Jane with an everlasting love. The love and respect they showed to one another is a legacy that they leave behind for their family. He will be missed more than words can say. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland on Saturday, June 3rd from 1 – 5 p.m. Father James Mulligan c.s.c. will recite funeral prayers beginning at 12:30 p.m. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
