ZINKWEG, Diederick Maris – It is with broken hearts that the family of Diederick Zinkweg announces his passing at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Saturday, April 22, 2017 in his 72nd year. Diederick passed away the same way he lived each day of his life; with faith, dignity and surrounded by the love of his family. Cherished husband and best friend for 40 years of Carol. Cherished father of Candace (Mark Austin), Pieter and Matthew. Proud and loving grandfather of Tristan and Justin and great-grandfather of Nylah May, Elijah Avery, Iziah Noah and Destiny. He will be sadly missed by his twin sister Krina Potma (Cor) and brother Barend (Wilma). Also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family. Diederick was a Senior Technician with Northern Telecom for many years. He was a talented baker and a jack-of-all-trades with a wonderful sense of humour, a generous heart and kind presence. Above all else, Diederick treasured his family and cherished spending time with them. Although he will be terribly missed, his legacy of love will live on through the many lives he touched. Cremation has taken place. A service to honour and celebrate Diederick’s life will be held at Christ Community Church, 224 Division Street, Welland on Saturday, April 29th beginning at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson Foundation would be appreciated by the family with cards available at the H.L.
