Obituary for Ann Arsenault (Calder)

ARSENAULT, Ann – (McCombs) (nee Calder) - It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Ann Arsenault, peacefully, at home with her husband Gerry Arsenault by her side on Friday, March 31, 2017. She was an amazing woman, sister, wife, mother, Nana, and friend. Ann was born in Simcoe, Ontario, the daughter of the late William and Mary Calder. She is survived by her husband Gerry Arsenault, her son Jason McCombs (Cynthia), daughter Shari Gotfryd (Lukas) and her stepdaughter Lisa Arsenault (Scott). She was cherished by her grandchildren Brody, Isabelle, Olivia, Talia, and Katie. She was also the matriarch of the Calder Clan; Valerie Brown (Steve), Barbara Calder, Bill Calder (Merrie), Harriet Calder, and John Calder (Ella). She is also loved and will be missed by seven nieces and nephews, a Canadian cousin, extended family in England, and many friends. Ann worked many years for the RBC group and was an avid curler with the Welland Curling Club. A special thank you is extended to Ann’s close friends Sharon Leaney and Cathy Book who have been there throughout her lengthy illness. Also, a special thank you to Dr. Dooler, Hospice Niagara, CCAC (Kim & Jocelyn) and the ‘Caring for my COPD Clinic’ who provided support and amazing care for her in every way. Visitation will be held at the H.L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland on Wednesday April 5th, from 5-8 pm and again on Thursday, April 6thfrom 10-11 a.m. with a service to follow in the chapel, beginning at 11 a.m. Donations, in memory of Ann, may be made to Caring for my COPD Welland or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
